SnowLinks

Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how SnowLinks collects, uses, stores, and discloses your personal information. SnowLinks is committed to handling your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

1. Who we are

SnowLinks is a community platform that helps skiers and snowboarders in Australia connect to share car rides and accommodation for snow trips.

For any privacy enquiries, contact us at admin@snowlinks.com.au.

2. Information we collect

We collect only what is necessary to operate the matching service:

  • Account information — your name, email address, and profile photo when you sign up.
  • Profile information — skiing level, home city, age range, languages, gender preferences (optional), and a short bio that you choose to provide.
  • Trip details — departure city, destination resort, travel dates, and what you can offer or are looking for.
  • Social login data — if you sign in with Google or Facebook, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from those services.
  • Communications — messages you send through the Platform and emails you send us.
  • Usage data — basic logs of how you use the Platform, used only for debugging, security, and improving the service.

We do not collect government identification, payment information, or sensitive information (such as health or biometric data).

3. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Create and manage your account;
  • Match you with other skiers heading to the same resort on similar dates;
  • Display your profile to other members for matching purposes;
  • Send you match notifications and platform updates by email;
  • Investigate misuse and enforce our Terms of Service;
  • Improve the platform and fix issues;
  • Comply with our legal obligations.

We do not use your data for advertising and we do not sell it to third parties.

4. Profile visibility

Your profile is visible to other registered members of SnowLinks. You control what information you add to your profile, and you can update or remove it at any time from your account settings.

Sensitive details such as your full address are not shown on public profile cards. Specific accommodation addresses are only revealed once both members have confirmed a match.

5. Third-party services

We use the following third-party service providers to operate SnowLinks:

  • Supabase — database and authentication (data hosted in Australia / Asia-Pacific region);
  • Google OAuth — optional sign-in via Google account;
  • Facebook Login — optional sign-in via Facebook account;
  • Resend — transactional email delivery;
  • AWS Amplify / Vercel — web hosting.

Each of these providers has its own privacy policy and security practices. We share only the minimum information required for them to perform their function on our behalf.

Some of these providers may store or process data overseas (for example, in the United States). By using SnowLinks, you consent to this transfer of personal information.

6. Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account or request deletion, your personal data is permanently removed from our active systems within 30 days, subject to any legal retention obligations (for example, we may retain limited records for fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or to comply with the law).

7. Your rights under the Australian Privacy Principles

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you;
  • Request correction of inaccurate or out-of-date information;
  • Request deletion of your information (subject to clause 6);
  • Withdraw consent for marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us;
  • Make an anonymous or pseudonymous enquiry where practicable.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at admin@snowlinks.com.au or visit our Data Deletion page. We will respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days.

8. Data security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, loss, and misuse. This includes encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and using reputable providers with strong security practices. No system is completely secure, however, and you also play a role by keeping your sign-in credentials safe.

9. Data breach notification

If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm to you, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme under Part IIIC of the Privacy Act.

10. Cookies

We use session cookies solely to keep you signed in and to remember your language preference. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.

11. Children

SnowLinks is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

12. Complaints

If you believe we have handled your personal information in breach of the Australian Privacy Principles, please contact us first at admin@snowlinks.com.au so we can try to resolve the issue. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can make a complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. Continued use of SnowLinks after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
